Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolts are now fully integrated with Google Assistant on smartphones and the Google Home device.

This upgrade was first announced back in January at CES before going live this Tuesday.

The product is already compatible with Amazon Alexa and Siri in Apple HomeKit.

Consumers will first need to purchase the Schlage Sense WiFi adapter before accessing this new compatibility on smartphone devices, which will allow users remote access. One adaptor can support up to two locks, and simply require being plugged into power and connected to your home WiFi network to work.

Google Assistant users can access this functionality by giving these commands:

  1. OK, Google, lock my door
  2. OK, Google, is my door locked?

But there is not yet any functionality toĀ unlockĀ the deadbolt with just your voice.

Schlage locks are created by Allegion, a $2.4 billion company who sell products in almost 130 countries. They’re hoping that this latest update further propagates their image as innovators in the field.

Rob Martens, a futurist at Allegion, said, “Schlage has been at the forefront of IoT security solutions since launching the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt in 2014.

“This new integration and functionality is a testament to our ongoing commitment to raise the bar for innovation, convenience and security and to support consumers’ choice of IoT platform.”

Users should be aware that this new functionality is currently only working in Schlage’s Sense Smart Deadbolts and not their popular Z-Wave Connect range. There is no word yet on whether they plan to extend this offering to other products.

As well as being able to lock the deadbolt from anywhere when using the app and Sense WiFi adapter, you can simplify the lock procedure with the Schlage Sense by ditching the keys and setting up access codes for yourself, trusted friends, and family. It has capacity for 30 access codes, so even the largest families with staff will be catered for.

It also comes with a lifetime guarantee, and has built-in alarm technology to sense potential door attacks.
