With the explosion of craft beer, microbreweries, and home brews, the market around beer has blown up as well. That includes the containers for carrying your beer: growlers.
While growlers are pretty common for breweries and pubs to sell, as a way to have their customers buy larger quantities of beer to take home, they can also be bought on their own. The GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 Growler is one of several options on the market.
It is vacuum-insulated and stainless steel to keep your beer cold all day, easy to clean, and allows you to dispense your favorite beer from a tap. It makes it easy to drink more of your favorite beer or fill it up with your own homemade brew.
While there have been some complaints that the growler leaks, that the customer service is lacking, and that it stopped working after a few uses, let’s take a closer look at the GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 Growler. Then you can decide if it’s right for you!

How Does It Work
Setup of the uKeg 64 Growler is fairly simple. You just have to follow a series of quick steps:
- Install the C02 Cartridge
Before you head out to your favorite brewery or think about filling up your growler, ensure the dial on the cap is in the “off” position.
Then you can put your CO2 cartridge (the same kind used for seltzer) into the cartridge sleeve, and screw the cartridge sleeve onto the cap.
- Fill Your uKeg 64 Growler
Before you fill up your growler with your favorite beverage, make sure you rinse it out with cold water. If you’re going to your favorite brewery to have it filled, do this ahead of time.
Now, you’re ready to top off your growler with beer!
- Cap the Growler
All that’s left is cap off the growler. Some foam might come up the sides when you do so, but don’t worry, that’s fine.
Next, make sure the tap is in the “off” position and locked. We don’t want any beer coming out before we’re ready for it.
Increase the pressure to your desired level using the cap, and then you are ready to turn the tap on and enjoy!
The uKeg 64 Growler comes with a one-year warranty and lifetime customer support.
You don’t have to worry about not knowing when your beer runs out. There is a little window on the side of the growler that shows how much is left inside.
You’ll be able to get a refill before you ever hit empty!
The uKeg 64 Growler includes a VPR cap, which will automatically maintain the carbonation in your beer. You don’t have to worry at all – the cap does all the work.
The only thing you have to do is set the pressure of the CO2 regulator. It can be set from anywhere between 0-15 psi.

The company’s mission is come up with innovative ways to keep beer as fresh as possible.

Keeps Your Beer Cold, Carbonated and Fresh
With the vacuum-insulated container and its stainless steel build, the GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 Growler ensures your beer (or whatever beverage you’re storing) stays cold all day.
No more having to worry about ice or having to lug around a cooler with you. This growler will make sure you have your favorite brew on tap, ready for you at just the right temperature.
The VPR cap also keeps your beverage carbonated so you’ll have a perfect glass of beer whenever, wherever, and the growler will make sure you have fresh, crisp, beer for up to two weeks.
Its size makes it so you can easily stick it in the side of a standard fridge until you’re ready for it. Get ready to be the life of any party or picnic!
Easy to Clean
The growler is also very easy to clean. All that’s necessary is to take off the cap and rinse the inside with hot water and baking soda. Dry it, and your growler is ready to hold your next beverage.
Make sure to run some water through the tap too; especially if you are not using the growler a lot, you don’t want any leftover beer to stay trapped inside.
Easy to Serve
Speaking of the tap, there’s no worry of lifting the growler and trying to pour your beer into a glass, because the growler has the tap attached right to it.
Just put it in the open position, slide your glass underneath it, and dispense your beer like at your favorite pub.
Because the CO2 cartridge inserts right into the cap, you also don’t have to worry about carrying around a separate CO2 tank and a regulator. It’s all built into the VPR cap on the top of the growler.
It’s lightweight, so even when you want to fill it to its max, it won’t be an issue to carry around. This makes it easy for tailgating or transporting to your neighbor’s next barbecue.
Campers have also enjoyed using the uKeg Growler while out of town – it makes a perfect companion for bonfires and you can elevate your camping trip all the easier!
This growler trumps many on the market thanks to its trendy design. Both the copper and stainless steel models of the uKeg 64 come accented in gold so this growler is sure to stand out.
Whether you decide to take it with you to a barbecue or keep it on display for a gettogether at home, it will only add to the environment. Speaking of environment, it’s an eco-friendly solution too!
While beer is yummy, you can do so much more with the uKeg Growler.
Feel like getting a little fancy with champagne? It’ll keep the bubbles flowing. Ready to swap the bubbles for some refreshing carbonated water? That’s fine too!
This growler works to keep a variety of beverages not only cold, but carbonated so don’t be afraid to think outside the box with this one.
It’s not often that a growler comes with a warranty, but the uKeg 64 Pressurized Growler does. You’ll have a 1-year limited warranty, covering you against any defects in manufacturing.
Should you notice any flaws, you’ll need to contact the GrowlerWerks customer service department and they’ll be able to assist you from there.
And when your warranty expires, GrowlerWerks promises to keep having your back with lifetime customer support.
Quite a few users have complained about the growler leaking, either from the cap or the tap. This was by far the biggest complaint people had with the product.
While a few drips here and there can be expected, some users experienced a lot of water loss. A product can have all the features in the world, but if it doesn’t do its main job (holding beer), it might not be worth purchasing.
While this can indicate an issue with quality control, some users found that it was due to user error by overfilling the growler.
If you do find the issue persists, be sure to take advantage of your included warranty.
May Not Be for the Long Run
Users also had problems with the growler either coming broken or not working after a couple of uses.
Of course, you can always seek a replacement for the manufacturing error, but it’s frustrating and time-consuming and might be worth a second guess for some.
On the other hand, some users have found their growlers to be quite durable, lasting them for over couple years.
While having a product not work can be frustrating, not being able to get in contact with customer service is even more so.
Multiple users said they received little or no response to their complaints or issues with the Growlerwerks uKeg 64 Growler.
And while it is great that the product comes with a one-year warranty and lifetime customer support, if there is no one there to help you when necessary, that doesn’t mean much.
Some customers have noticed that the service department is improving, as they were able to get through and receive helpful instructions, but that doesn’t seem to always be the case.
Doesn’t Hold Much
There were also a few complaints that the price was too high, based on the fact that the uKeg 64 only holds the equivalent of four to five beers.
While GrowlerWerks does offer a 128 oz. version of this growler (the uKeg 128), users still felt like they should get more storage for their money.
If you don’t plan on storing a lot of beer though, this won’t be a bother.
Here’s a video showing what the GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 looks like out of the box.
The GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 Growler is an innovative product with a few knots to consider.
The fact that so many users have had this product leak is worthy of concern. The unreliability of their customer service doesn’t help. It is a great concept, but until the kinks are worked out, it may be wise to look elsewhere.
However, as these seem to be manufacturing errors, you could purchase the perfect version and experience no issues!
If it sounds like a great addition to your parties, and you have a bit of extra cash to spend, it may be worth a shot.
