How Does It Work

Setup

Setup of the uKeg 64 Growler is fairly simple. You just have to follow a series of quick steps:

1. Install the C02 Cartridge

Before you head out to your favorite brewery or think about filling up your growler, ensure the dial on the cap is in the “off” position.

Then you can put your CO2 cartridge (the same kind used for seltzer) into the cartridge sleeve, and screw the cartridge sleeve onto the cap.

2. Fill Your uKeg 64 Growler

Before you fill up your growler with your favorite beverage, make sure you rinse it out with cold water. If you’re going to your favorite brewery to have it filled, do this ahead of time.

Now, you’re ready to top off your growler with beer!

3. Cap the Growler

All that’s left is cap off the growler. Some foam might come up the sides when you do so, but don’t worry, that’s fine.

Next, make sure the tap is in the “off” position and locked. We don’t want any beer coming out before we’re ready for it.

4. Pour

Increase the pressure to your desired level using the cap, and then you are ready to turn the tap on and enjoy!

The Negatives

Leaks

Quite a few users have complained about the growler leaking, either from the cap or the tap. This was by far the biggest complaint people had with the product.

While a few drips here and there can be expected, some users experienced a lot of water loss. A product can have all the features in the world, but if it doesn’t do its main job (holding beer), it might not be worth purchasing.

While this can indicate an issue with quality control, some users found that it was due to user error by overfilling the growler.

May Not Be for the Long Run

The GrowlerWerks uKeg 64 Growler is an innovative product with a few knots to consider.

The fact that so many users have had this product leak is worthy of concern. The unreliability of their customer service doesn’t help. It is a great concept, but until the kinks are worked out, it may be wise to look elsewhere.

However, as these seem to be manufacturing errors, you could purchase the perfect version and experience no issues!
